We had an emotional arrival in Viareggio, Italy yesterday with a few boats escorting us from offshore, then a welcome horn salute from the surrounding super yachts berthed in the port and finally cheers and clapping from family and friends waiting for us on the dock holding homemade banners. Fortuitously, we also made our own banner to fly along with all the flags of the countries we visited on our circumnavigation. Having left Italy 20 months ago, needless to say it will take some time to get used to being home and on land for an extended period! In the meantime, thank you to all those who made this ‘adventure of a lifetime’ possible, as Milanto’s motto for this circumnavigation says, all you need is ‘Love, Hopes & Dreams’.
